Sweet Endings |
Whether you choose to have a formal seated multi-course meal, or have your guests indulge in themed stations, the dessert course deserves equal attention. A beautiful tasty wedding cake or cupcake will most certainly fulfill any sweet craving your guests may have. But many couples want to offer their guests a little something extra. And while lots of weddings have dessert options besides wedding cake, it’s the non-traditional fun elements couples crave.
Over the last couple of years we have come across a number of fun dessert ideas. Most popular have been candy bars as a way to satisfy the sweet tooth. Brides have fun selecting assorted candies that match their wedding colors. They also enjoy picking out a variety of glass containers to make the candy even more charming. Great cost effective containers can be found at Michaels, IKEA and Hobby Lobby. It’s so much fun to see the inner child come out of adult guests as they fill their baggies with treats.
A more elegant take on the candy buffet are Chocolate Bars (big hit!). These can include a wide selection of truffles, chocolate bark, chocolate marshmallows, chocolate covered dried fruits and fresh strawberries. We love chocolate treats from Parfections! Professional Chocolatier and Parfections owner Kim Rigby offers complimentary tastings from her huge selection of over three dozen truffle flavors. Parfections lets couples choose from over a dozen different flavored truffles. Decadence their guests will go wild over!
Another popular idea for the traditional dessert table is to incorporate miniature versions of childhood favorites. Mini homemade pies like apple, cherry and blueberry the size of a quarter complete with lattice top crust. Milk shooters with small choc chip cookies and assorted mini cheesecakes are big hits too!
At a more formal wedding, why not go over the top and offer your guests bananas foster or cherries jubilee as special treat. These two elegant desserts have been around for decades but never lose that sweet vintage appeal. And for the mostly semi-formal and relaxed, a good old fashioned ice cream bar is a must. The Scottish Highland Creamery can come to your reception with 6 different ice cream flavors and an assortment of toppings. They even have a “Drunken” Bar with 6 alcohol infused ice creams.
So whatever the sweet indulgence may be, cake, candy, chocolate or ice cream, there is a great way to add this ending to your sweet beginning.
