Finally after all of the planning, Jennifer and Greg arrived from California for their wedding at Jennifer's childhood home in Ellicott City.
During the few occasions Jennifer was able to visit Maryland for wedding planning, rain or sleet filled the air. We were a little worried that her dream of being married outdoors in front of her parents beautiful home may need to be altered. But Mother Nature smiled on all of us and gave Jennifer a beautiful late summer day.
The festivities began Thursday evening when Greg's family arrived from California with a welcome party at the Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel. Continuing the next day, after the rehearsal, everyone climbed on board a shuttle and headed to Baltimore for food, drink and an Orioles game. Unfortunately the Birds lost but that did not dampen the mood.
It was during a trip to Paris that Greg surprised Jennifer with her engagement ring. This was the inspiration for their French Cafe wedding theme. Foods prepared by Simply Elegant had a French flavor. Centerpieces created by Christine's team from Fleur de Lis made you feel as if you were dining at a Parisian Bistro.
Saturday was a sun filled day with highs in the mid-seventies. Jennifer spent the early afternoon having her hair and makeup done, and then on to some pre-wedding photo's with her bridal party. The reception was scheduled to end at 10:30 pm; however the party was still in full swing! As Michael Valenti kept the dance floor filled with his wonderful mix of music. Jennifer wanted to keep her party going…so we did. After the 3rd last dance, the music finally ended at 12:30 am.
As the shuttle driver was ready to chauffeur the last few guests back to their hotel, the bridal party had other ideas. Now it was time for a pool party! One by one most of the groomsmen and a couple of bridesmaids made celebratory leaps into the pool. And in the end…Jennifer however graceful…also took the plunge. An unplanned “Trash the Dress”.
Of course, every fun party needs a signature cocktail. Jennifer and Greg offered their guests French Martini’s served from an Ice Luge.
French Martini
2oz. Vodka (Grey Goose)
1oz. Chambord
11 ½ oz. Pineapple Juice
Pour Vodka, liquor and juice into a mixing glass.
Add ice, stir to chill and strain into a Martini glass.
Enjoy!
